“The best part was definitely when the recipient received the goods and got happy and delighted.” Saju’s brother
Saju from Nepal shares her Family Volunteers for Peace (FVP) project. She along with her brother, sister and brother-in-law volunteered to distribute food relief to 5 families in her community when they learned about the hunger brought by the Covid19 lockdown.
The family prepared a list of needy people in their neighbourhood and distributed each family with food supplies enough for 2 weeks. Relief efforts during the lockdown came with challenges and Saju’s family found it challenging to distribute the groceries while following the lockdown protocol.
The brother reflected, “Well I got to volunteer through my sister. The best part was definitely when the recipient received the goods and got happy and delighted.”
Saju shares that she felt happy that her family were able to volunteer in the project. Her family also developed a sense of ownership for the needy people in their community. Her family plans to continue their family service and thinks of volunteering in teaching elderly with an encouraging environment. Saju is volunteering to distribute dustbins in the community for proper disposal of garbage to maintain cleanliness in her community. She looks forward to interacting with people from all walks of life and from different places.
