Abubakar Family, Nigeria (FVP Story 2021. )
You don’t have to be old enough to make a difference. Abubakar lives in Kaduna state, Nigeria. He lives with his wife and four children. After a family discussion on volunteering for peace, the four Abubakar children volunteered to donate their piggy bank savings to show love to local orphans. Inspired by their children, dad and mom also donated to help purchase snacks, drinks, and toiletries for the orphanage visit.
They picked an afternoon for the special visit. Dad drove the family to the orphanage to deliver the snacks and drinks and donations. It was special that it happened to be that the Abubakar children could visit during Quran class.
“We were very happy we made this visit to the orphanage. We hope to make this a family tradition to instill the values of love, empathy, sharing and the importance of a healthy family bond,” reflected mom and dad.
The family hopes to visit again and encourage other families and friends to give back to their community as a family unit. “Go ahead and volunteer as it is a very rewarding experience!” says the Abubakar family.
The family discovered that joy is found in giving back, and there is even more to share when giving together as a family.
