Global Peace Women- Uruguay, Hosts the "Living for the Good of Others" Awards Ceremony - VI Edition

The first Recognition was given to the Cerro Mothers Foundation and was received by the organization's President, Mrs. Gabriela Jost, and handed over by INAU Vice President, Mr. Aldo Velazquez. The Cerro Mothers Foundation is formed by families of children and young people who have suffered the consequences of drug use in Uruguay and are working towards reformation to better their lives.

The Hands of Heroes Foundation also received an award which was received by the organization's Founder Mrs. Andrea Cuckerman and handed over by the representative of "Somos Creative-Somos Productivas" Mrs. Adriana Urse. The Heroes Hands Foundation emerged amid the Covid-19 pandemic and continues to create free 3D-printed prosthetics for children and young people.

Other outstanding women who were awarded on that day include Mrs. Teresa Garcia, a Founding Member of the Uruguay Chapter of GPW whose Award was presented by Mrs. Angelina Vunge. Marleny Uscata, who has been a volunteer promoter of events of different kinds to help her fellow citizens in Uruguay was also awarded on that day. Marleny's Award was delivered by the Consul of the Republic of Peru, Mrs. Giulliana Reggiardo.

For her long-time volunteer mission in helping nursing homes, young drug users, and domestic violence survivors, Mrs. Maria del Huerto Casaña, was also recognized with her Award delivered by Mrs. Laura Martinez.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, an American Philosopher, once said, "The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, honorable, compassionate, and have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well." GPW Uruguay's annual Award uplifts these qualities of outstanding women leaders who are service-minded and working to fulfill our vision of One Family under God.

The world is dotted with points of light, people who exemplify the best of humanity. Many times they are ordinary people in the community, doing extraordinary things. Often their stories aren't heard, overpowered by the realities of war, conflict, and economic uncertainty. GPW Uruguay has annually hosted the "Living for the Sake of Others" Awards to recognize these unsung heroes.
