"I challenge the limits that have been keeping me from doing my best and utilizing the knowledge I gain to enhance the peace within me," pledged Preetha at the close of commemoration of International Women’s Day 2021 hosted by Global Peace Women and Global Peace Foundation Nepal. The program recognized the indispensable contribution of women leaders for the greater good.
Ms. Indira Ranamagar, founder of Prisoners’ Assistance Nepal, was the special guest of honor. Her work has met crucial needs of children of incarcerated parents, earning the World’s Children’s Honorary Award in 2014. She inspired participants, young and old, with her testimony of a life lived in service to the most vulnerable and her tireless efforts to challenge stereotypes and uplift the role and value of women and girls. Global Peace Foundation and Global Peace Women, recognized Ms. Ranamagar's exemplary service leadership that was in full force during the pandemic. Also gracing the program was Ms. Arya Manandhar, Women Deliver Young Leader, UNESCO YAR team member and World Literacy Foundation Country Ambassador.
The event convened GPW Nepal’s home-grown women leaders, graduates of GPWLA. Each are women leaders in their own right, working together with GPW to create a world of peace and security, for women, men, girls and boys around the world.
Speakers and activities highlighted the need to work together to uplift and empower women. Achyut reflected, "Women empowerment is not only about empowering a couple of women. It is a continuous process of learning and reflecting on the community."
