As the world goes through a tough time with the pandemic, climate crisis, poverty and many others, there is a need for resilience, cooperation and unity among people, countries and societies for a peaceful and sustainable future. Sustainable development is the key to move forward.
GPW Tanzania along with its partners Global Peace Foundation Tanzania, Binti Salha Foundation, ICAO Tanzania and others came together to commemorate the International Day of Peace on September 21, 2021.
With the theme, ‘Recovering better for an equitable and sustainable world’, GPW Tanzania engaged in a number of programs on tree plantation, dialogues and debates with partners on preserving peace and environment. GPW also participated in a press conference at the Dodoma Regional Commissioner’s Office as a part of the celebrations in the run-up to the Dikuyaamani 2021. The conference focused on the important works on human rights, peace and good governance were conducted to preserve the environment and maintain peace. peace and how the world can recover and march along the path for a just, equal and sustainable world.
Irene Ishengoma, Country Director of GPW Tanzania also reached to high school students in Kikuyu, Dodoma as she talked about roles and responsibilities starting at homes as children, at school as students and around the whole communities and societies.The International Day of Peace observed encouraged all to heal from the pandemic and reimagine a better future for people and planet for an equitable and sustainable world. There was a tree planting program to commemorate the day, acknowledging the connection between peace and environmental sustainability.
Peace is the foundation for recovery and the existence of a safe environment is the source of a society living in peace. GPW Tanzania believes in peace and looks forward to preserving the environment and maintaining peace.
