In recognition of the incredible contribution of the volunteers, GPW Nepal with GPF Nepal organized an event on September 22 2022 to commemorate International Peace Day and honor their valuable volunteers. Volunteerism plays a significant role in peaceful societies. The UN Volunteers on peace building and volunteering reports that volunteering “contributes to increased trust and social cohesion in communities as part of efforts to sustain peace and prevent conflict.”
Past and present volunteers, interns, supporters, and partners graced the program with their presence as the organizing team honored them for their time, effort and commitment to the organization and its different service projects that positively advanced peaceful families, homes, and communities.
In addition, the event recognized the volunteers for its project Saksham - a youth leadership development program launched in March 2022. Project Saksham aimed to empower youths to be moral and innovative leaders. Read more about the project here:

Likewise, the program welcomed the new President and board members of the Global Peace Young Leaders (GPYL), a youth club under the Global Peace Foundation. The past GPYL president Kamal Pokhrel handed over his responsibility and expressed his gratitude for the opportunity. He recollected memories, thanked everyone on his journey and encouraged more youths to come up for volunteering.
The celebrations combined a pre-celebration of the Dashain- a yearly Nepalese festival, everyone rejoiced and celebrated each other’s efforts for volunteering and commitment to peace. It was indeed a day of celebration, gratitude, peace, and volunteering. GPW and its chapters are indebted to its incredible network of volunteers worldwide for their contribution and commitment to advancing peace and starting homes and families.
