GPW Tanzania Commemorates International Day of Youth

More than half the world’s population is currently under the age of 35. That means there is a powerhouse of potential for progress.

Global Peace Women Tanzania, in collaboration with GPF Tanzania, hosted a Youth Day in honor of the United Nations International Day of Youth.

Youth from around Dar es Sallam participated in a variety of youth-centered activities including a fun run, football and a workshop. GPW Tanzania country leader Irene Ishengoma led the fun run with Martha Ngambi of GPF Tanzania.

Martha Ngambi of GPF Tanzania said, “Young women and young men have a critical role in promoting and maintaining peace, they can - and do - play active roles as agents of positive and constructive change”

“If you want to touch the future, touch the hearts of young people. If you want to hear about the future, talk to young people. But, If you want to see and/or feel peaceful societies support initiatives of young people of today”, said Irene at the panel discussion on youth empowerment and the future.

GPW Tanzania is committed to supporting the youth. Programs seek to empower girls and families with practical skills and resources to improve their education and home lives. Learn more on their Instagram account. https://www.instagram.com/globalpeacewomentanzania/
