Global Peace Women Tanzania had a busy month in March joining programs and capacity building sessions in commemoration of International Women's Day.
On March 11, GPW Tanzania joined GPF Tanzania to attend a forum in Karimjee Hall entitled, "Women in Leadership: Achieving Gender Equality." The forum convened leaders from across Zanzibar and Tanzania, public officials, educators, civic, women, and youth leaders discussing how to encourage and support women participation in conflict resolution and decision making as an important factor in preventing violence and building peaceful societies. "We cannot maintain peace without involving women and girls in the family, as well as the inclusion of people with disabilities in our society," wrote GPW Tanzania on Instagram.
On March 10, GPWLA graduate and advocate for rights of disabled persons in Tanzania, Aneth Gerana Isaya spoke at a forum addressing gender based violence in sports. She shared her moving personal story of overcoming the challenges of deafness and become successful on the foundation of a loving and supportive family.
March 2, GPW joined an online discussion hosted by GPF Tanzania on preventing sexual violence online.
Much progress has been made to uplift and empower women, however there are many challenges that lie ahead. GPW continues to work to raise true, service-minded women who can invest in continued progress for women and families.
