Shristika’s Family, Nigeria (FVP Story 2021.)
Nepal, like the world, has had its share of problems over the past year. For daily wage workers, COVID19 restrictions have taken a harsh toll on their families. Some barely live on one meal a day. Others have resorted to going door to door to beg for food.
Amidst the challenges of the pandemic, families have stepped up to do more to support other families in need. Shristika’s family, mom, dad and granny, is one family. For their Family Volunteer for Peace project they shared with families of daily wage workers. Through this, Shristika realized “happiness is not the absence of problems but simply the ability to deal with problems.”
Granny reflected, “I am super excited about this project. I donated my sarees and shawls for the womens in Lalitpur who are in need of clothing.”
Mom said, “I feel fortunate when I help those people who are in need during such situations. I believe it’s far more beneficial to me than going to the temple and worshipping”.
Shristika’s future plans are to support more families. She feels that the project contributed towards promoting peace. The beneficiaries kept blessing them and they were inspired by their action of sharing with others.
