"Peace Begins At Home" Seminar Opens Empowerment Program for Deaf Women in Tanzania

On March 8, 2023, Irene Ishengoma, GPW Tanzania Country Leader led a peace building and personal empowerment workshop for members of the deaf community in Dar e Salaam on International Women's Day. The workshop kicked off a series of programs organized by a consortium or organizations committed to providing women with disabilities with personal and entrepreneurial skills to improve the quality of life for the women and their families. Organizations include Global Peace Foundation and Fuwavita. The interactive session was themed "Peace Begins At Home." Conversations and speakers uplifted the value and qualities of women and encouraged men and women to work together to foster peace in their families, communities and nation.
