Reflecting back on my experience at the Global Peace Leadership Conference Indo-Pacific 2023, I am flooded with a mix of emotions - gratitude for the experience, inspiration to continue working in the field of peacebuilding and a deep sense of responsibility to make a positive difference in the world.

The theme of "Vasudaiva Kutumbakam" has stirred my heart and soul to the very core. Its meaning, "The world is one family," resonates with me on a personal level because it reflects my belief in the interconnectedness of all people, regardless of our diverse backgrounds.

The conference gave me a sense of belonging and trust that I shared with my fellow conference organizing team and participants. The conversations, shared lessons, and meaningful networking and site visits that took place during the conference are precious treasures that I will always cherish.

I had the honor of being part of the conference support team. I witnessed firsthand  the behind-the-scenes preparations. We faced challenges along the way; learning how to handle urgent matters with grace, effective communication, and the power of working collaboratively towards a common goal. A special shoutout to all the volunteers and staff who worked tirelessly to make this event not only successful, but meaningful.

During the conference, two young and enthusiastic ladies volunteering from Manav Rachna University told me they wanted to become a leader like me. They even asked if they could to intern with me. It was heartwarming to see a bit of my younger self in them and the other young women I got to mentor during the conference. Their enthusiasm reminded me that the work we do, the values we uphold, and the way we interact with others can leave a lasting impact on those around us, and it is important that we inspire, uplift and support the next generation. I have to credit Global Peace Women and its values-based approach. Our work culture, mentorship, and community play a significant role in shaping my identity. GPW strives to raise service-minded women leaders, advance women's leadership, and strengthen families for peace. We have the power to empower others, and that is a responsibility we should never take lightly.

In turn, the interactive conference track sessions connected me to powerful role models.

I took away a simple but powerful statement from the Youth Empowerment track, "See it, own it, solve it, do it." Panelists full of optimism for the future shared good advice on entrepreneurship, asking the right questions and developing my leadership and life skills. My creativity was ignited, sparking new ideas towards the sustainable development goals.

I met Father Canice during the Values-based peacebuilding track. He shared his insights on values based approach to peacebuilding and the unifying threads of family and peace. It was a profound moment when I embraced the vision of One Family under God, appreciating our diversity and differences even more and feeling hope for a peaceful and harmonious world.

And Dr. Sareen spoke during the High-Level Plenary about the importance of mindfulness and holistic wellness in leaders like ourselves, to thrive as peacebuilders. This message was a reminder that taking care of our own well-being is crucial to effectively support others and promote peace in the world.

It was good to reconnect with old friends from previous GPF conferences, such as the IYLA in the USA and APPDSA in Nepal. I felt a deep sense of gratitude for the enduring friendships that have been forged through these events. Exploring Rishikesh, Haridwar, India Gate, Red Fort, Connaught Place, Bangla Sahib Gurdwara, conversing with auto drivers in Hindi, enjoying the lively tunes of Bollywood songs, and savoring the taste of chai, dosa, and parathas all added to my experience.

I felt a sense of unity and connectedness with the people around me. These experiences have shown me that we are all part of something bigger than ourselves, our shared humanity, and that our cultural, religious, and national differences that can be embraced with compassion and understanding. To me, this theme is not just a statement, but a beacon of light, a call to action, reminding us of the immense power we have when we come together as one global family.

The Global Peace Leadership Conference Indo-Pacific was an experience that has deeply touched my heart. As our honorable Chairman Dr. Hyun Jin Moon said, "I believe the visions that can unite humanity to transcend all the walls that divide the human family is none other than one family under God." This statement has given me a stronger sense of belongingness and trust in the meaning and essence of Vasudaiva Kutumbakam. I am filled with gratitude and joy for the incredible moments of learning, growth, and connection that I experienced.

As I return home, I am inspired to take small but meaningful steps towards realizing the vision of "Vasudaiva Kutumbakam" in my own community and beyond. I believe that it is only by working together, recognizing our interconnectedness, advancing our vision and values and striving towards a common goal that we can achieve true peace and unity in the world. I cannot wait to put this vision into action through little steps back in my home country with my family, friends, and communities, and beyond.

And, to all the forces of love and strength in my life, I send out a heartfelt message of gratitude and love. You are the wind beneath my wings, the reason why I stand where I am today, and I will always cherish your love and support.
