Schools are the second home for children, where they not only receive education but also gain essential life skills, principles, and values. Thus, everyone is responsible for keeping schools safe for learning. Safe schools also positively contribute to assured parents and quality of family life.
GPW Paraguay, aware of its social commitment to creating a safer environment for children, visited an elementary school, “República de Bolivia,” with donations of healthcare essentials such as face masks. The Paraguayan chapter felt the need to aid schools in creating a safe space when COVID-19 cases increased in the last weeks of May.
GPW Paraguay gave away 150 units of face masks for 127 students. Mrs. Zunilda Neuman de Barboza, School Director, received the donation and expressed gratitude to GPW Paraguay for the “support and gesture of solidarity.”
Further, GPW Paraguay agreed to extend the “My Playground of Peace” project with the school's students, teachers, and families. The project is said to be within the “Peace of the Chaco” commemorative program in June. The Paraguayan chapter launched a similar project, “My Plaza, My Park for Peace,” in 2021. Efforts as such help GPW build stronger relationships with the community while remaining true to GPW’s social commitment to a safer environment for children contributing to assured parents and her by improving the quality of life for families. GPW hopes to continue initiatives in the future to help families and societies.
