In January 2025, Global Peace Foundation (GPF) Nepal successfully conducted two impactful sessions under its “Capacity Building of Women” program, focusing on Cervical Cancer Awareness and Digital Literacy Awareness. These sessions aimed to empower women with essential knowledge and practical skills, enabling them to take charge of their health and navigate the digital world safely.
The first session, held on January 2 at Tribeni Chowk, Ward No. 01, Chandragiri, centered on raising awareness about cervical cancer. Twelve women participated in discussions on prevention, early detection, and the importance of regular check-ups. The session provided a safe space for open conversations about women’s health issues, encouraging participants to adopt healthy lifestyles and advocate for their well-being. Many women expressed gratitude for the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of cervical cancer, recognizing how preventive measures could significantly impact their lives and communities.
“The cervical cancer awareness session helped me understand the importance of regular check-ups. I now feel more responsible for my health,” shared Minu Rai, a participant.
Later in the month, on January 29, a Digital Literacy Awareness session brought together fifteen women to explore the advantages and risks of the digital world. The discussion covered critical topics such as responsible online engagement, cybersecurity, and how to identify and mitigate digital threats. Participants learned about ethical considerations in the digital space, including how to combat misinformation and protect personal data. Many women left the session feeling more confident about using online platforms safely and effectively. One of the attendees, Sanju Wagle, shared that the session was particularly enlightening as it taught her safer ways to use social media and navigate digital platforms.
Both sessions were deeply rooted in the vision and values of GPF Nepal, emphasizing unity, character development, and service to others. They highlighted the critical role of women in strengthening families, recognizing that self-awareness, personal development, and skill-building contribute to overall family well-being. Beyond individual empowerment, these sessions encouraged women to take their newfound knowledge into their homes and communities.
Many participants expressed a commitment to sharing what they had learned, extending the impact of the program beyond the training rooms. The success of these sessions reinforced the importance of continued capacity-building efforts for women, ensuring they remain equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate challenges and opportunities in both their personal and professional lives.
GPF Nepal remains dedicated to expanding this initiative, recognizing that informed and confident women are key to fostering stronger families and communities. As more women gain access to essential health knowledge and digital literacy skills, they are better positioned to create positive change for themselves and future generations.
