Mrs. Bethune envisioned NCNW functioning as a clearinghouse, facilitating networking and coalition-building, and advocating the use of collective power on issues affecting women, their families and communities. With a mission to lead, develop and advocate for women of African descent as they support their families and communities, NCNW addresses issues of human welfare and rights through public education, community service and advocacy.

The importance of education can easily be seen when we take a look at the hardships of the increasing number of the multicultural family. I am one of the multicultural families. My daughter who is in an elementary school, there is a class for multicultural families. As I met other moms from Philippines and Vietnam, I found one thing common among us.

The consideration on the positive change in the family from a woman’s perspective has an important meaning towards the future of Korean society. The understanding on the transformation of the family will allow the search for the future oriented and equal social transformation.
